Economic Development
A strong local economy benefits every resident. Inflation continues to challenge families and businesses, making it more important than ever for City Hall to be a partner, not an obstacle, to economic growth.
One of the fastest ways to encourage investment is by reducing delays in the permitting and inspection process. Every unnecessary delay increases construction costs and postpones new jobs, businesses, housing, and tax revenue. We should make our development process more efficient while maintaining high standards.
We must also prioritize revitalizing aging major shopping centers and underutilized commercial properties. These sites affect both our local economy and our city's image. By working with property owners and developers, we can attract new businesses, create jobs, improve neighborhoods, and expand our tax base without placing additional burdens on our residents.
Milpitas has always been a city of great opportunity. One of the Mayor's roles should be to work closely with our Director of Economic Development to secure relationships and funding mechanisms that relieve the tax burden on our residents.
